NEW RD BOARD OF DIRECTORS APPOINTED
The Minister of Public Works and Transport, Honourable Matjato Moteane has appointed a new Board of Directors for the Roads Directorate (RD) for a period of three years.
The new Board members are:
- Ms. Tšepang Koele, the Chairperson and Principal Secretary for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport;
- Mrs. ‘Matšepang Sekhokoane, the Road Fund Chief Executive Officer;
- Ms. Nthoateng Lebona, the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning;
- Dr. ‘Mamphaka Mabesa, the Principal Secretary for the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftainship, Home Affairs and Police;
- Four representatives of the private sector, namely: Mrs. ‘Makotelo Teboho Motseko, Mrs. Vuyani Monyake, Mrs Seboku ‘Mafilipi Tšehloane-Mohlomi, Mr. Tente Tente; and
- Mr. Teboho Mokhoane, the Director General of the Roads Directorate.

In an inaugural meeting with the Board, held at the Ministry of Public Works Headquarters on Tuesday, 17 December 2024, Honourable Moteane articulated the rationale behind the board members' appointments, emphasizing their collective expertise and potential to provide effective leadership to the Directorate.
He underscored the significance of their role in overseeing the implementation of the National Transport Master Plan and addressing the challenges posed by climate change. The Minister concluded by expressing his trust in the board's ability to deliver on its mandate and contribute to the ongoing development of the Roads Directorate.
On behalf of the Board members, Mr. Tente Tente thanked the Minister for the opportunity to serve on the board. He emphasized the importance of continuous learning and promised to fulfil their duties diligently. He acknowledged the significance of their role in supporting infrastructure development and contributing to the nation's economic growth.
The Roads Directorate Board was appointed in terms Section 5.1 of the Roads Directorate Act 2010. Amongst others the Board is responsible for providing an oversight on the implementation of government policy on roads related issues, formulating strategies for the road network and setting priorities for road maintenance and approving road maintenance programmes.
The appointment of new members to the Roads Directorate Board follows the conclusion of the previous board's tenure in November 2024.
