The Division’s main responsibility is to improve the network through innovation, research analysis and technology evaluation and adoption of best practice that supports policy, planning and project delivery within the roads sector. The Division is also tasked with improving expertise in road construction and maintenance techniques, and promote adoption of good practice within the organization and the local construction industry.

Other responsibilities of the Research and Development Division are carrying out material investigations, and testing, quality assurance, categorization and training of contractors.

The Division manages the following two units;

• Material Testing Laboratories
